Okay! Here I am again trying to get caught up with the family blog. I know you are all tired of checking on it and seeing those butterflies still! I am so terrible at keeping up with this thing, but I will TRY to do better. I think I said that last time, but I will REALLY try this time!
Anyway... since I posted last, Connor has finished another school year, Mike had Shingles, Sam was in the hospital with a bad case of croup, the dog was sick, Connor needed an Enima, I had a sinus infection, everyone got healthy, we participated in Vacation Bible School, spent the 4th of July in VA Beach, celebrated Sam's 2nd birthday, went to Emerald Isle for a week, had Mother's Day, Father's Day, Pop Pop's birthday and LOTS of very hot summer days. I think that about sums it all up!
It is Labor Day weekend and the summer has been here and gone in no time. I just can't believe it! Connor is back in school and it's his last year of preschool! Next year we have Kindergarten! Sam has started preschool this year and is doing great. He LOVES it! Football season is among us and we are ready for Fall!
A spin on the saying "SUCH is Life" which mirrors the French 'C'est la vie'. This equates to the English 'that's life', or 'life's like that'. Modern variants are 'that's the way it goes', 'that's the way the ball bounces', 'that's the way the cookie crumbles' etc. So with that said... to our loved ones near and far, enjoy seeing how OUR cookie crumbles.
So Coool
School is IN
Well... Summer is over. Sad, but true. I think we are ready to get back in to a routine though. The kids had their first week of school this week. Connor is back in the swing of things and Sam is LOVING school. He is lucky enough to be in the same class as two of his best friends, Hayden and Ryan. We love St. Francis Preschool!
Family Vacation
We have been going to Emerlad Isle with Mike's Parents for years now. They went when Mike and Brian were kids and now we get to bring our kids to the same beach and stay at the same house. It's so cool. This year was by far the best. The kids are at the age where Mike and I could sit back and watch them play together. They had so much fun! We had great weather! It was beautiful almost the entire time we were there. This particular day was a bit overcast but still, a great beach day!
Not sure if you can see it or not, but Connor has drawn cat whiskers on his face with a marker. He seems to think that he IS Dr. Love. He wants to be a member of Kiss and likes to draw on his face to look like the member with a cat face. Not sure where this came from, but whatever!
Emerald Isle
Went to the Aquarium while we were at Emerald Isle. Though these pictures are of fake fish, we saw lots of neat REAL fish. The boys loved it of course!
Connor's Green Thumb
Connor wanted to grow some Tomatoes and Peppers this year. He LOVES his fruits and veggies. Sooooo, we went to the Farmers' Market and bought these plants and put them in some pots with good soil. Can't grow stuff in our terrible NC clay dirt! Anyway... these plants did so awesome. Not only did they get huge and we had a ton of them, they were DELICIOUSE!
Baby GOT BACK!
Sooooo, I thought maybe he could just wear a pull-up instead of a swimmy diaper. I thought..."what's the difference?"
THIS is the difference! The stuff inside the diaper completely blows up! The photos don't really do it much justice but it gives you an idea.

Keeping Cool
Gotta love the big Plastic pools! The kids have had a blast in these over the summer. It has been a great way for them to keep cool and stay home.
SUPER SAM!
Our Friends McKenzie and Laura got Sam this Super Man outfit. It has a cape too. He didn't want the cape at first but now he wears this outfit ALL THE TIME. CAPE AND ALL!
Sam turns TWO
Sammy had three birthday celebrations. We had a combo family party for he and cousin Jake. A few days later he had some of his friends from the neighborhood over for some pool time in the back yard and Yo Gabba Gabba cupcakes. THEN... the next day we got together with some of our friends who were kind enough to get him a cake too! What a lucky kid! My baby is TWO! Where has the time gone?
Skink
Connor made friends with this cute little Skink Lizard. We found it in one of my potted plants. It would climb right into his hand and then up and down his arm. As you can see it is missing part of his tail. I guess as a deffence mechanism, they can release part of their tail if something gets ahold of it. Connor was holding him at one point by his tail and it came off. THAT was gross. It kept wiggling on the ground so Connor stomped on the moving tail to make it stop. YUK!
Faves
My sister in law, Meg is SUCH a great photographer! She has the perfect eye for it. Meg took these pics as well as all the others I posted of our 4th of July visit with them. I some how left these two out of that posting but they are too good not to share with you all. I love the lighting! They are two of my favorite pictures!
4th of July in VA Beach
Mike, the kids and I got to spend the 4th of July weekend with his Brother and family, and his parents. We Had so much fun participating in the neighborhood parade, swimming in their neighborhood pool, playing at their beach, sailing, setting off and watching fire works and just being together. We were also fortunate enough to get to my Aunt Joan and Uncle Jim's house for a very yummy dinner and some fishing! My cousin Lee and her kids were there along with my cousin Mike, my brother John and nephew Hunter! Oh yea... my parents were there too! All in all, LOTS of fun surrounded by LOTS of family. I forgot to bring my camera to Aunt Joan's house, so I am sad to say that I have no pictures of that event. Hope you enjoy these though!
