Cookie Party 2009

Well, Connor had his first annual Cookie Decorating Party with his neighborhood buddies.
As you can see, everyone had LOTS of fun and LOTS of sugar! Sorry parents.

Alexis and Hayden mean business! They were taking their "sprinkle job" very seriously.

Meanwhile... the boys were busy taste-testing!

Gotta have some milk with those cookies!

Annaka decorated the SAME COOKIE over and over again.
She would decorate, eat the topping and start all over again. It was great!

Little Ashleigh didn't really get a chance to decorate a cookie THIS YEAR,
but she got to sample them!

Sam and his buddy Ryan hung out in the living room while all the big kids got messy.
SMART!

Connor and Olivia stuck around the longest to make sure ALL the cookies were decorated.

NOW we are getting somewhere!
Looks like the baby doll has stepped up to help out.

Is that bucket of frosting larger than Ryan?

More sampling!!!
Hey... someone has to do it.

Thanks to MiMi for showing us how to make these yummy sugar cookies!
The kids sure did LOVE them.

Elf YO self

Jammy Day

Well, as if the kids had not been sick enough off and on for who knows how long...
Sam started with a fever on Friday, VERY cranky Saturday and had a sore on his mouth by Sunday. Thought he had a fever blister from the fever on Friday and thought he was cranky from teething. Connor came home from School Monday with a fever, a sore on his tongue by Tuesday and feeling pretty good by Wednesday. Annaka had a fever on Tuesday, was feeling pretty good by the end of Wednesday and ALL THREE OF THEM had little tiny blisters on their hands and feet by Thursday morning. After talking to the Dr. about this crud, it turns out that they all had "Hand, Foot and Mouth disease! Yes, I know it SOUNDS terrible, and from the pictures on the internet it LOOKS terrible, but these three got it and had a pretty mild case of it. They were all feeling just fine by Friday, but we stayed home yet another day as to not make anyone else sick and they had a "Jammy Day". They had lots of fun, dressing up, dancing, baking and decorating cookies and watching Christmas shows. By Saturday WE were all ready to get out of the house!!! "We" means "ME"!

Here are some pictures of the three of them having a good old time.

Our "Elf on the Shelf"

Well we are busy busy getting ready for Christmas and our "Elf on the Shelf" has been busy busy keeping his eyes on Connor and Sam. Making sure they stay on Santa's good list.
This little guy came to our family last year and has become a FUN part of our Christmas tradition. Connor named him Mr. Peepers Christmas Day. He arrives on Thanksgiving morning and stays until Christmas Eve. Flying to the North Pole each night after they go to bed to report to Santa and arriving back in the morning in a new spot in the house for Connor to try and find him. He is very loved in this house.

Our Blog Title

HUTCHis Life
A spin on the saying "SUCH is Life".

An acceptance of the unpredictable fortunes of existence, often spoken with an air of weary resignation.

"Such is life, that whatever is proposed, it is much easier to find reasons for rejecting than embracing."

'Such is life', of course, mirrors the French 'C'est la vie', which equates to the English 'that's life', or 'life's like that'. Modern variants are 'that's the way it goes', 'that's the way the ball bounces', 'that's the way the cookie crumbles' etc.

So with that said... let our BLOG BEGIN and enjoy seeing how OUR cookie crumbles.
